 Dr. Long Helps Develop Anesthetic Injection Guidelines

Dr. Long was a member of a select multicenter clinical work group that developed standards for less invasive peri-articular anesthetic injection protocols. The purpose of this panel was to improve and standardize techniques in an effort to improve pain management, rapid rehabilitation and recovery associated with less invasive joint replacement. The local infiltration of long-acting local anesthetic has helped push the boundaries of same day, and outpatient total hip and total- and partial knee arthroplasty, while improving patient comfort in the post-operative period.
